Oreo Brownie Slice diabolical but delicious/ cheaters version

I recently made this for some friends of mine, i had seen a recipe with oreo and brownie all baked layered together, it was an evil and gratuitous recipe that was going to get baked simply for the OTT nature of the recipe... where less isnt more...more is ....well... more.
my guests loved it so i decided to blog it, cos it was sooo awesome!.... but i thought I'd do the cheaters version since its an easy recipe.... for the Time poor.
You get a brownie mix, hand mixed with a wooden spoon and a packet of oreo's, i used 1 packet and 2 cookies extra for my baking tray...
Then you line the baking tray with baking paper and cookies , evenly spaced apart and then pour the brownie mix on top.
then smooth it out with the wooden spoon and put in the oven at 180 degrees celsius....160 fanforced... just cook as per instructions on the box...and dont overbake!

Noice! then wait till it cools and cut that bad boy up~ VOILA!!!!

You can see the cookies at the bottom! Its awesome and delish! as they say at Dilmah...DO TRY IT!

Cookies. for the white and dark choc chip on my shoulder

hey there caking fiends, I have been busy as usual running after the genoius progeny i raise, but i recently veered off the cake track and did something entirely nice for my hubby which could be misconstrued by him as a crack on, but was infact me just making him choc chip cookies for his tea yesterday. They.are.the .shit.
oh yeah. its a readily available recipe i use, from a maker of sweetened condensed milk...... they contain sweetened condensed milk as well....

180 g butter softened
1/3 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 &1/2 cups SRF
250 gram dark choc chips
1/2 cup white choc chips

beat together butter and sugar, then add condensed milk, beat till smooth, then add flour and choc bits
roll heaped teaspoons onto tray lined with baking paper press with fork, they should be half size of golf balls to be a good cookie size and remain round....bake for 15 mins , dont over bake as the sweetened condensed milk makes them crispy so you dont need to bake the crap outta them....my hubby likes them a little softer.... awww cute.  i used more white chips than dark in this batch, cos thats what i had in my cupboard..... My 1 year old robbie tried them and he smashed them up man!
great recipe , give these a go, but be warned, you eat a shitload of them and get a big ass like mine.

Caitlin's 1st Birthday Butterfly Cake

I was asked by a dear friend of mine to do a cake for her daughter Caitlin, and the theme was butterfly, in pinks and gelato colours, I was very happy with that and i decided to make it a rainbow cake, without the orange as that particular colour is my friends least favourite... the rainbow factor would provide a wow factor for everyone when we cut the cake. Best part of this cake is i get to partake in the cake as well...awesome! so i began with baking 2 layers, 1 was yellow and blue the other was purple and pink. i used strawberry buttercream, in pink also. i had a hard time thinking about how the butterfly woud look, as usual i stayed up all night thinking about it, and mentally planning the way i would do certain things.... CONTROL FREAK meets worry wort!

i cut out a butterfly shape and iced the middle with my trusty piping bag and the out side with my trusty knifula, a knife that is camoflaged as a spatula....

I overlayed the butterfly with fondant, and cut into the top layer in stripes across the wings for texture and to guide where the patterns would go. i dont have any inbetween pictures as i was really strapped for time.... i needed to get this done to go away for the weekend. mu hubby was doing the anxious pace and sweep as usual.
the butterfly body is made of modelled fondant and using my tools i have made the stripes across for texture and authenticity
i used sparkle dust to accentuate the wings and act sort of as shadow work, a few hearts in purple and blue dots using the poking tool to poke the dots in the border and shapes.... simple and effective.
a pretty bow for the outer border of the cake.... and we're done!
Happy birthday Caitlin!

the best part of making a cake!... the eating of The cake!!!!!!look at those colours!

with all the candles and on the table it was a lovely cake, and i got to chop it up for everyone, mainly because nobody knows where to cut first!
