1961 FB Holden cake

My father in law Bob turned 65 last week so we dcided to throw a surprise birthday party, the cake was left to me and my sister in law and I thought it would be grouse to do a car cake like the car Bob  owned way back when.i baked mud cake simply because i thought it would model well as a 3 dimensional cake

So i baked a few slabs of mud and started ganaching and stacking, i had drawn what the cake should look like so i could get my mind around where all the acessories should go and get the proportions right.
i tried to get the curves right, building it up a bit with the choclate ganache work!
i rolled out some fondant and coverd the ganached car with light blue fondant
it was a delicate process poking, prodding and coaxing the fondant into shape. i maade markings on the fondant for windows, and where the white wings should go along the car.
i tucked the excess fondant under the car rather than simply cutting it off to give the illusion of being off the board. you can see all the while refining the shape of the hood and boot, especially around the lights
meanwhile using my shape cutters i cut out 2 circles for the headlights, colcoured them silver and texturized the toplayer to look like a head lamp. i painted in the grill ready for piping on the the tail lights
the tail lights were layered fondant coloured shapes, literally the whole car was broken down into shape components that i made and attached, i then painted in the windscreen and side windows, not to forget the white wings on the side of the car. its really beginning to look like a car at this stage.

small details were added in , like shading on the chassis to give it a more real look, around the bonnet and trunk, under the wheel arches and in the doors.... strangely enough i completely forgot some components alltogether like mirrors and door handles.... weird....
chrome details
i piped in the grill, made black wheels to stick in under the guard,  added the bumper bar and a number plate BOB 65....voila!!

Aussie Thong Cake

I have 2 great friends Ginnie and her hubby Qas who turned 40 this year and had a big bash, the theme being Aussie, so come in yor thongs and VB shirts, listen to some Aussie songs. The cake was a 50 cm long mud cake with chocolate ganache, covered in royal blue, red and white fondant aussie flag style. LOVE IT!!! So heres how the magic happened....
I drew a template to cut out the shape, it was a good way to get the cake cut out evenly, and i built up the end of the cake with offcuts. i made 2 litres of ganache to fill and cover the thong.

I rolled out the first layer of blue fondant that i had dyed the appropriate colour blue with blue food colouring and a few good drops of purple to pop the colour. Great advice from the ladies from cake decorating central. i cut out the white cross in fondant.
then i cut out the red central cross and the stars on the southern cross. I used a skewer for the thong strap sut it 3 cm above the cake and covered it in fondant.

I attached plastic straps but didnt like the effect, i covered them in red fondant but even with tissues underneath, they didnt set hard....aaaarrrggghhh! so i took them off and used some hard plastic from a cut lemonade bottle (washed and santised of course)
The difference was that the plastic had a curve to it and therefore wanted to stand up like thong straps should.
i used a hand tool to texturise the edges of the thongs and added a white fondant star to cover where i taped the straps to the skewer.
i added some raw sugar and royal icing mixture with two drops of ivory to achieve the sand colour them used my palette knife (I all it knifula)to trowel it looked so good!
i delivereed the cake and at the cake cutting i got to carve the cake up as well! it was yummo!
Get your aussie thong on !!!!!!!!

How i would boost my Vitamin Me Levels whilst getting about in my thong

I sincerely need to spread myself around, get funky with it and trip the light fantastic on an awesome Queensland holiday powered by Nuff Nang To work on my vitamin me levels Of course i would hit that disco with a cocktail the size of a bucket with all sorts of chopped up fruit in it to offset the taste of the litre of vodka and malibu in that baby! Dont forget the holiday sized umbrella sticking out of that drink so big if I got caught in a windstorm the size of cyclone Yazi i could take shelter. I am a huge Nature walker (pls read lazing by hotel pool in my thong) and I would work on my vitamin me levels by kayaking a few kms ( pls read flat out on a massage table in Palazzo Versace Health Spa with a glass of vino bianco velcroed to my hand ) I wouldnt waste a single moment , I'd get my chakras centred, my meridians tuned up and swear an affiliation to Buddha, he seems like a laid back fella and thats how I'd be, including the rounded profile. hehe. dont forget I'd never be out of that Thong... see attached picture of thong....
the edible type, mud cake may not fair well on the beach tho.....
next to make this thong cake....
